Lawrence Man Arrested in Auto Insurance Fraud Case

Oct. 21--LAWRENCE -- After crashing his 1997 Honda Civic into a fence on the street Phillips in July, Eduard Moreta fled with their passengers, and later reported the car stolen.

But police said Moreta decipher the story at the scene of the accident when her cousin returned to retrieve his hat.

Jose Moreta said a resident of the house where the accident happened that his cousin Eduard was drunk, but your car insurance covers damage to the fence. Jose Moreta details on that story when approached by Lawrence police officer Harold Rogers.

The official said Joseph Moreta told him that his cousin was drunk and had a suspended driver's license, but insisted the other five people driving home from a party in Kendall Street.

Eduard Moreta hit the fence at 106 St. Phillips after not making the change at Dorchester Street and Phillips, his cousin told the police.

Rogers was unable to interview Eduard Moreta, and the car was towed.

On July 7, about 36 hours after the accident, Eduard went to the police station to report his car stolen.

When faced with Rogers on the account of his cousin, Eduard admitted that he lied and he wanted to withdraw his stolen car report.

But Eduard had already stolen car filed a claim with your insurance company and later told an investigator with Plymouth Rock Assurance five days after his police interview that the car had been stolen and not recovered.

Plymouth Rock denied the theft claim and referred the case to the Office of Insurance Fraud Massachusetts. A fraud investigator working table with the city of auto insurance fraud task force proved the case.

Eduard Moreta, 19, of 137 High St., was arrested at his home on Thursday.

He was charged with attempted theft of property and filing a fraudulent insurance claim car.

His arrest brings to 334 the number of people indicted for insurance fraud vehicles in the city five years of repression.
