BBC weatherman caught driving without insurance

BBC Weatherman Des Coleman has been a ban on driving for three months after they were stopped by police driving without insurance.

Former Eastenders actor, who presents the weather for the East Midlands Today, was sentenced in court this week after the crime was committed in November last year.

Coleman, 44, faced the minimum six month ban, but the prohibition period reduced by the court, he claimed that his cause undue hardship.

"We found that exceptional hardship has been proven, because of the impact and loss of income for your family," said the judges.

Coleman told the court he was unaware that his insurance expired, because the warning was not issued by insurance companies.

"I am absolutely gutted," he said in court.

"In a sense I am glad they stopped me because otherwise I could have been driving without insurance for a long time."

He added that he was "ashamed" of a crime

In addition to the prohibition on driving, was fined £ 800 plus £ 200 costs and £ 15 victim surcharge
